2010, The beginning.

Williamsburg 01/15/2010

The infamous Deming Wrecking Crew headed off to Williamsburg for a week end get away and to attend a District VFW meeting in T or C. (Truth or Consequences).  Friday started off good, we left Deming around 9:30 AM with good spirits and good intentions. About the time we were leaving Hatch things got thirsty. You ever try Heineken Dark Lager.? Good beer! Somewhere after that we made it to the AMVETS post 69 in Arrey. Here is a picture.

They were running a little slow today but we had a beer anyway.

Shortly after that we spotted a Border patrol vehicle which we thought would take pursuit so we put a paper bag on Hectors head so they would not know we had a Mexican in the vehicle. (He was driving) He claimed that he could not see where we were going so it was decided that he could hold Tigars tail so that he would know when to turn. Here is our navigator.

The Border Patrol gave up and we continued on.

We eventually reached our destination which luckily was open. A big sign behind the bar read “Welcome Deming Wrecking Crew” We were impressed and drank to it. After wetting our whistles a bit we checked into our respective rooms and met back at the VFW. Later, Much later one couple left (no names here) Later another couple left, (no names here either) then someone went to walk the dog, never saw him again that night. There was only 2 of the wrecking crew left to close the place so we did. End of Story. It’s mine and I am sticking to it.

OH! you want pictures? OK.

Here is the Crew.

Yours Truly

Saturday morning we all headed for the T or C VFW for a District meeting. Upon arrival we found that we were a little early so just hung around until people started showing up. We had a great lunch of Brisket, Potato Salad, Beans, Rolls and a bunch of different deserts. After which the meeting was held. After adjournment it was back to the Williamsburg VFW. A few drinks were had a a great dinner was devoured. Green Chile Cheese Burgers were wonderful and I was told that the Green Chili Stew was also great. We managed to outlast the Williamsburg crew and still left early.

Sunday morning it was back on the road to Deming which went without a hitch, although we did stop for breakfast before getting home. Arrival in Deming was just in time to go have a beer with one of the members that did not attend and then it was off to the Nine Ball Tournament at the VFW (which I won).  Now we can start our recovery for the next road trip. Some of this story was true and some was not, it’s up to you to figure it out….   Bye for now.

Newest health update: Doctor says everything looks good, wear prosthesis more! OK, I'm trying and things are still slow but progressing. I am now up to a couple of hours a day and don’t get quite as sore. Here is a look at the new leg and foot. Looks kind of bionic doesn't it.

Happy 2010

Newyguy

Well, another year bit the dust. Sure do hope the new one will be better than the last. I was sure I would be walking by now but that has not happened yet. Maybe by the end of January.

Dec 31,2009.

A bunch of us were invited to a wedding being held at the American Legion Post. So being the good guys we are Stu and I were in attendance. It all started at 11:00 AM. Snacks and drinks were provided and we all had a lot of fun.

Just before 5:00 PM we headed for the VFW for a Prime Rib Dinner and New Years eve party. There is a possibility that we had a drink or two and played a bunch of pool while listening to Bob Delp and his band. Great music, great fun and a very good way to bring in the New year with a whole lot of Great Friends.   Happy 2010 to Ya all……
